Goals

The goal is to build up a portfolio of VNFs that are comprehensively on-boarded in OSM where they leverage the full benefits of our architecture. Also, this workshop should help to identify additional requirements for the Release FOUR cycle.

  • As a pre-condition, VNF vendors will be requested to develop an OSM PoC highlighting the value of complete OSM integration.
    • The TSC/MDG/TF leads will support pre-work to help define these PoCs with the VNF vendors.
  • Workshop agenda:
    • Tuesday: VNF descriptor creation tutorial focused on Day 2 action and configuration management via charming.
    • Wednesday-Friday: focused on co-writing and supporting descriptor and charm development, and in particular focusing on leveraging items such as layers to simplify and accelerate the creation process.
  • Expected outcome:
    • Following the workshop, the VNF descriptors and charms will me made available on the OSM site so that other users can learn from them. It is also expected that additional input for Release FOUR feature development may be compiled during the workshop.
    • Once the PoCs accepted and completed, they can subsequently be marketed by the OSM community.
  • Requirements:
    • Participants should come prepared with:
      • a laptop
      • a VNF they would like to onboard (a qcow2 image, knowledge/documentation on how to configure it)
      • some knowledge of OSM is useful, but not absolutely required.

We plan to have OSM R3 available, with an OpenStack VIM, for testing and deploying VNFs. More details about this will follow.

VNF vendors interested in participating to the workshop are requested to register to the VNF workshop and contact the TSC
