Description
This feature is intended to enable the creation and management of the control plane and node groups separately, providing better flexibility, faster deployment, cost optimization, and efficient multi-cluster management. Interaction with the cloud will be handled through the respective cloud CRDs and cloud provider.
Demo or definition of done
The procedure will be documented, and a demo will be done in a TECH call.

The feature covers the creation and management of the control plane and node groups separately.
The support of different node groups is well received, as long as they do not become first-class-citizens in OSM. Node groups cannot exist separately from the cluster and node groups from one cloud cannot be managed by a control plane in a different cloud.
Nothing prevents today's workflows and APIs to be slightly adapted to support multiple node groups.
The creation of a control-plane-only cluster with no worker nodes, might require special care with the different clouds.
The changes in the ODU workflows to support control-plane-only clusters could be really big. In this respect, the new framework for app modeling that will be presented on Thursday could help in the incorporation of optional components, and custom transformations of the manifests.
