Service KPI of VNF using exporter endpoint.

Description

Most commercial VNFs come with node exporters. There is no way currently to provide the meta data from descriptor so that Prometheus can start scrapping from the node exporter. So this makes Service KPI based assurance difficult. The current choice we have with OSM is SNMP is lesser prevalent in new age virtualized network. Essential to have one more option in terms of node exporter, apart from SNMP.

This feature aims to bring addition of exporter-endpoint as one more choice in descriptor, where user can provide exporter-endpoint input. So OSM (Prometheus) will be able to scrape the metric directly from VNF.

Demo or definition of done

The following tasks should be completed:

  • Onboard VNF package with VNF exporter endpoints and template.
  • Instantiate the NS.
  • Verify Service KPI is flowing to OSM-Prometheus.
